This tank is made of steel instead of plastic. This is the current replacement for the old-style tank. The low coolant sensor port is now on the side of the tank as opposed to the top. The overflow tank has a primary function. It is a large part of the coolant recovery system. Heat expands and coolant is released. The tank retains the lost coolant. As the engine cools, these coolants are transferred back into the vehicle's radiator. It is vital to occasionally check the water levels in the radiator coolant overflow tank for optimal performance.
